What Day Is It Again?

Yep, it's that time of the month again, no not PMS time, IWSG time!

Some of you may already know that I'm a bit insecure about my memory.  I didn't even realise it was july until I was flicking through the movie schedule the other day and it said 1st July.  This happens way too often!  Then I was reading posts, and peeps kept saying they were doing their IWSG early because it's a holiday in USA today.  I kept trying to rack my brain, what holiday?  It wasn't until this morning that I realised it was the 4th of July.  Like seriously, how could I forget the most well known holiday on the planet!  Happy 4th of July you sexy gorgeous Americans!

I was watching Total Recall yesterday - think I might be having a bit of an Arnie phase.  Well can you blame me, the guy is in some of the best movies!  Anyway, he was sitting in the chair at the Recall place, having his schizoid embolism thingy, and it got me thinking; how cool would it be if someone invented these memory implants for course work?  It would be genius.  Instead of having to study for four years and worrying like crazy trying to remember everything, you could just purchase yourself a memory implant, and viola, you will have all the information you need, just like that.  PHD here I come!

Imagine all the knowledge we could posses if it was that simple.  It would certainly stop me being insecure about my memory and my ability to study well.  It would save time and money too; if there was a shortage of Doctors we could train them just like that!  I'm sure there would be some downsides, like the schizoid embolism thingy, but Arnie makes it look like fun, so I think I'd be OK with it!

Do you have trouble with your memory?  Any tips for keeping a fit mind?  Would you get an implant if it was available?  Are leprechauns really green?

I have intermittent memory - sometimes I'm really bad, and yet sometimes I can remember conversations and arguments word for word from years ago. Hubby never believes me though, especially if I prove I'm in the right, because half the time I don't even remember what I went to the shop for!

I remember technical and left-brain items well. It's the personal stuff, like the past and what I had for dinner last night, that I can't remember.
And previews for the remake of Total Recall look good, BUT - we didn't need another movie.

If it's a big project, yeah I am so bad with remembering everything. Hello lists, which I often lose too. :/ LOL on keeping the mind fit, I am sure my doc would say, Juz take your prenatal vitamins. :) Enjoyed your posting today

Annalisa - Haha I do the shop thing, a couple of times I've had people ask if I need help because I look lost, not good lol! :)

Alex - Ooh I keep forgetting the two sides of the brain thing. Defo didn't need to remake it, it's perfect already! :)

Shah - I always forget to write things in my diary, and when I do I forget to check it haha! The wip thing is scary. Good luck and thanks for stopping by :)

Gossip - Thanks you. If only it was as simple as taking a pill, I'd stock up! :)

Not sure i'd want to remember EVERYTHING sometimes I can quite glad I forgot... but not needing to write down a list for the supermarket would be good!

My first IWSG, good to be part of this group and meet fellow interesting writers.

I'd refuse a memory implant. I like the learning rather than just having the knowledge. It'd still be a pretty awesome idea though.

Leprechauns are actually translucent. They just reflect green light so they appear as green.

I would love to learn something in an instant like on Total Recall and the Matrix. But, I'm too afraid to let them implant more stuff in my head. I have enough trouble with the stuff I put in there.

Girl I write everything down-twice! Once on a big calender and once on a daily to do list! You are not alone when it comes to forgetting things!

I've heard leprechauns really wear red, but since I've never seen one, I can't be for certain. ;)

My sister has a pretty selective memory and can't seem to keep track of things. For myself, I often go over things a lot in my head, so I have a pretty good memory.

Anna, my memory is HORRIBLE. Thank goodness for smart phones.

Leprechaun's are definitely green. As for the memory stuff -- I think Matrix did a good job of showing how well that would work. It would be cool. :-)

I have very little memory of growing up and now if I don't write things down my short term memory will eat all the important info I should remember. Not sure why. Need more brain wrinkles I guess.
Total Recall would be great or the giant plug in the brain like The Matrix. Instant learning.
