I'm injured. It's awesome. My very first proper injury that required medical assistance! When I was a kid I used to jump off crazy high walls all the time so I would break a limb and be in plaster, because well, it's exciting right? Or is that just me? But the worst that happened was a badly grazed knee. I'm invincible! Eventually I gave up and decided it was probably a good thing that I've never broken anything or had any serious injuries.
Then on Friday I was finally feeling well enough to give the kitchen a good old scrub, but one of the glasses I was washing broke and sliced right through my pinkie. At first I was like oh it's just a cut, I'll put some tissue on it, as you do, but as I walked to the bathroom the blood just came pouring out all over the floor. So I looked at my hand and yeah, I freaked a lil; I thought for a minute my finger might fall off or I might bleed to death. The skin wasn't on my finger properly, and god knows where all that blood was coming from, I mean it's just a lil finger, but there was so much I could hear it dripping on the floor. Ewww!
So I phoned my Dad, who luckily was in town, he told me to wrap it in a towel and he would come pick me up and take me to the hospital. So I went into the bedroom for a towel, but all the ones in there were white, so I had to get a clean one from the living room - I don't think I could have handled seeing all that blood on a white towel. So by time my Dad turned up I had heaps of blood on the floor in every room of the house, just from my lil finger!
I didn't have to wait long at the hospital. I remember thinking how great it is to be able to just pop down to the hospital and get fixed up. If this was back in the day before the NHS I probably would have died or something! Now, if I was thinking straight when it happened, I would have taken my camera with me and taken some pics to show peeps how gruesome it looked. But I wasn't thinking straight, which is a shame because it looked kinda awesome, and it wouldn't stop bloody bleeding! I got it all checked out again this morning, and I can now finally use my hand, yay! It did amaze how much pain could be caused from something so small. I've had my fair share of pain, but from a pinkie, what the hell!
Funny thing is, just a few days ago I was thinking I should learn to use my left hand in case anything ever happened to my right hand. How weird is that? Do you think maybe the universe was saying, hey, I'm gona wreck your hand in a few days so you better go learn to use the other one! The universe was warning me? Or maybe I predicted the future - yeah it's probably that!
Have you ever had any major injuries? Are you squeamish at the sight of blood? Do you like a bit of real life gore?!

Ouch! Fingers do bleed a lot, especially at the tip. I cut my finger on a piece of ceramic that chipped off my sink when I dropped something in it (another story) and my finger bled for more than a day - crazy!
I'm impressed that you keep your clean towels in the living room though. ;-)
*shudder*
I'm glad your hand is still working!
I'm okay with my own blood, but go a bit weak with other people's.
Hubby once sawed (or jigsawed) through his thumb. He watched with great interest as he was sewn back up.
Ermie - Haha it was laundry day, I'd not long brought it in from outside!
A whole day sounds a bit mad, were you worried? :)
Annalisa - Ooh he got to watch, cool! He must have been sawing real hard to do that? :)
Dammit Universe! ;) In college I was cutting mats for a final portfolio in Photography class with a crude little mat knife and I was trying to wiz through 10 of them (aka rushing and not paying attention). I sliced through my index finger and didn't slice the piece of finger off, but it was like a flap. Blood everywhere and I still have the scar and it was numb for a really long time. Glad you got fixed up nice and quick! Your post reminded me of the SNL Julia Child sketch! LOL Found you on Gossip Girl's page and I'm your new follower!
Sounds pretty nasty; glad it's all okay though. The worst I've had is a broken thumb, but that was just an annoyance more than anything (had to wear this big plastic sheathe for it for weeks, it was irritating!)
Mod - Hey thanks for the follow, will pop over to your blog later.
Accidents always seem to happen when we rush eh! :)
Jamie - How did you break your thumb, was in on you main hand? It does sound very annoying, think we need our thumbs more then we realise! :)
Blood I can handle. I mean, at least I can control my gag reflex and contain my stomach. I broke my wrist once, my right ankle three times, my left ankle once, dozens of toes, quite a few fingers, a few broken ribs. It's amazing I survived childhood now that I think about it. I hope the pinkie doesn't fall off.
Joshua - What on Earth did you get up to as a kid to break all that? :P
Bit of this, bit of that, bit of the other. Name it.
